Lot's wife probably looked like a godly woman and professed faith in God but in the end the true condition of her heart showed itself. She loved the world more than God and it led to her destruction.
Without repentance we cannot be right toward God for we all have sinned against Him. True repentance hates sin and avoids it all costs. "God, be merciful to me, a sinner," should be the prayer of each of us.
Can I be sure that I am saved? What if there is some sin in my life I forgot about that will keep me out of heaven? The Bible teaches that the Christian can know his standing before God. There are answers to those questions.
The Holy Spirit pleads with lost souls to be saved today. Too many people put Him off and say, "There's plenty of time, I'll get saved later." If you are doing this do you realize the danger you are putting yourself in?
Risking your life to obtain a trinket is foolish. Yet every day people choose sin's trinkets over eternal life. Perhaps this is because they do not know what the destiny of a fool will actually be like.
